February Meeting Minutes
CES PTO
February 3, 2011

Attendance:  Bruce Downer, Alisa Daigneault, Sonia Comstock, Misty Haskell, Jen Cravinho, Tina Smith, Kate Kane

?       Approve January Minutes- Misty did not have minutes to present from the January Meeting.  BFMS committee made presentation at this meeting.
?       Financial Report presented – nothing new to announce – one correction & a date change on a request:
        CES $600.00 for books at the beginning of the year.
        African Children’s choir moved to June 3rd from March  8:30 – 11:30am

?       Smart Board Presentation
o       Kate Kane & Tina Smith addressed the PTO with a Smart board Presentation
o       Kids are using the board in the classrooms for various ways; talking through work.  8 classrooms have Smart boards mounted on wall.
Other
?       Alisa asked the PTO to support the Brattleboro Music Center coming in for world music composition, African music and spring quartet.  Whole School request $282.00 Misty Motioned to give funds, Sonia 2nd all in favor – approved.
?       VSO is coming to the school with a musical petting Zoo (4-5 instruments) it is free to the kids, but Alisa is looking for 4-5 volunteers per session 2nd -4th grade.   Friday, March 4th 9:15-10:05 (3rd) 11:15-11:55 (2nd) & 12:45 – 1:35 1st grade.   Misty will check on rounding up volunteers to cover the groups.
?       Central School Spring Concert is April 14th so we will move the Central School PTO meeting to April 7th for the Month.
?       Tina Smith discussed the innovative grant, which helped us purchase Net books & a Smart board for one class. Also discussed an upcoming subscription that they would like to purchase; Type to learn which could cost $200-$600.  Tina will report back at the next PTO meeting.  All students are using the Net books for Student Education and classroom projects.   Teachers have Tuesday afternoon smart board sessions.   Article on budget for Technology which does not cost money it is coming out of a surplus from this year.  If the Article passes it will enhance all technology and for all Rockingham students; but for CES, it will place Smart boards in all classrooms with mounts.
?       Bruce Downer has asked for funds to help purchase mounts for the Smart boards, they cost approx. $800.00 per mount.  The mounts are important for safety, moving cart, wires, and calibration errors.   Need to pay for 7 mounts, any help would be great.
